La Paz Basic Program

Day 1 - Meeting upon arrival at the Airport in La Paz and transfer to selected hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to acclimate yourself to the thin air of La Paz. Overnight accommodations at selected hotel.

SUCRE
Sucre, the constitutional capital of Bolivia, is a living expression of both colonial and modern times. The cathedral, churches and cloisters of La Recoleta, San Felipe and Guadalupe, the house of Liberty, where Simon Bolivar signed the Declaration of Independence, the Freedom Bell at San Francisco cloister, the second oldest university on South America, San Francisco Xavier, as well as the University Museum offers fine examples of anthropological research, colonial and modern art.

POTOSI
Three hours by car from Sucre is Potosi, the famous colonial city, source of silver during colonial times. The rich mountain towers over the city, and according to legend, it has produced enough silver to build a solid silver bridge from Potosi to Madrid. The cathedral, the church of San Francisco and the Casa de la Moneda (Royal Mint), with its wooden machinery used to make the silver coins for Spain during the colony and a visit to a mine are the local attractions. Potosi was declared by UNESCO: The Historical and Cultural Legacy of Mankind".

Salt Lake Adventure

Day 1 - Depart Potosi and drive to Uyuni. On the way visits to the towns of Chaquilla and Tika Tika. In Uyuni, visit the local old train depot and lunch. Continue to Colchani to see artisans working on iodized salt. Transfer to the local rustic hotel "Palacio de Sal", built entirely of salt. After dinner night walk around the surroundings of the hotel in the middle of the "Solar de Uyuni" to watch the sparkling stars and an impressive panorama. Overnight accommodations at the Hotel Palacio de Sal.
Day 2 - After breakfast drive through the great salt flat and watch some cold water spring "Ojos de agua" to Isla Pescada. Visit and walk around to admire its huge cactus. Return to Potosi for overnight accommodations at selected hotel.
